Recipients of the 2018 Information Commissioner’s Award

Gatineau, Quebec, June 14, 2018 — This week, Caroline Maynard, the Information Commissioner, announced Marie‑Claude Juneau, Access to Information and Privacy Coordinator for the Canada Revenue Agency and Dan Proulx, Access to Information and Privacy Coordinator for the Canada Border Services Agency as the two recipients of the inaugural Information Commissioner’s Award.

“The Information Commissioner’s award recognizes the efforts of these two coordinators who, in various ways, motivate and inspire their colleagues to respect the right of access to information.  Collaboration between institutions and the Office of the Information Commissioner is very important and we want to demonstrate that through the presentation of this award,” highlighted Commissioner Maynard.

The recipients of this award, who were selected by a committee of members of the OIC investigations team, are recognized for their leadership and their hard work in collaborating and facilitating discussions between the OIC and their institution.

The awards were presented to both individuals in person by Commissioner Maynard during Public Service Week to highlight their exceptional work. The Information Commissioner’s Award was created with the aim of highlighting the good work of select individuals and/or an access to information team in an institution subject to the Access to Information Act.
